I hope everyone had good Christmas and new year celebrations! I haven’t been very active on the school because I have been doing a lot of things with my family and friends in the past month. I am currently in Italy! My parents have been living here for 4 years now and every year or two I visit them. Keep in mind that we are from Brazil. I am having a great time! Missing the guitar though haha. But anyways! In the 7th of January it is my 22nd birthday and a really good friend of mine is building a guitar for me as a gift. Here are some pictures of the current progress; View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com I am really excited about it because I wanted a Strat for so long now! And this is kinda special to me because i get to design it as I want! Don’t get me wrong! I still love my fender tele and my Synyster custom haha. This is the design I am seeking! Very vintage, but cool nevertheless. View post on imgur.com If you read until here, thank you ! I just wanted to share with you guys my happiness about doing something like this! I am genuinely excited ! Hope you guys liked the design haha. Have a good start of the year everyone !! G. 6 likes January 2, 2019 at 2:54 am #182694 Dominik GräberParticipant Hey Gabriel! That looks totally awesome! Having built your personal guitar is something really special. I Have a friend who wants to do that too but we’re cut too short on time and resources. I hope you will review your custom guitar here 😉 1 person likes this January 2, 2019 at 4:10 am #182695 Filip TomišaParticipant That’s sick! Great friend you got there! It would be cool if he could add your signature on the head of the neck 😀 1 person likes this January 2, 2019 at 6:50 am #182697 Dan ShipwayParticipant I am still building one, 3 years later. 1 person likes this January 2, 2019 at 7:51 am #182699 Dominik RógParticipant Nice one Gabriel! I’ve started rebuilding an old one last October (Defil Jola 2, a polish guitar that was made like 30kms away from my hometown). So far removed the hardware and started removing old paint. I’ll keep y’all updated (maybe). 1 person likes this January 2, 2019 at 8:37 am #182702 Sayonil MitraParticipant holy crap, that’s a dope look on your guitar. someone makes a guitar just for you as a birthday gift, you are one lucky person. So much happy to see it. Thanks for sharing 1 person likes this January 2, 2019 at 12:31 pm #182712 Kevin KwasneskiParticipant Kick ass!!! Building is a great way to learn how to repair as well and to really know the instrument inside and out. 1 person likes this January 2, 2019 at 1:29 pm #182713 Gabriel CorsoParticipant Thank you guys ! I am happy that you guys liked it! My friend was kind enough to build it for me and help me to do the electronics and stuff. Of course I am helping a little bit with the money for the parts ( pick ups, shield…). But I am very happy nevertheless. @filip Yeah man ! I am currently doing some research on how to do custom watermarks for the headstock. I wat to put CORSO on it ! @dominik 1 and 2 haha. Yes, it takes time and resources. I do agree. But I am seeing it as a therapy and to learn new things about the instrument. @Sayonil No worries, mate ! I will try to send as many pictures as I can. Maybe do a video as well on how this beast will sound haha. @kevin for sure, buddy!! Thank you 3 likes January 2, 2019 at 2:19 pm #182720 Aileé Guerra AréizagaParticipant What a cool gift! This is amazing! I’d also love to watch a your review of it when it’s ready! I haven’t had a guitar costum built, but a friend of mine is a painter and I commissioned her to do an original painting on my guitar. I was inspired by Mark Tremonti, who got an artist called Joe Fenton to do the same on his PRS. 1 person likes this January 2, 2019 at 2:44 pm #182723 Kevin KwasneskiParticipant Mark Tremonti is my guitar idol!!! Have you read the book that goes along with his Dying Machine album? 1 person likes this January 3, 2019 at 4:38 pm #182761 Aileé Guerra AréizagaParticipant That’s awesome Kevin! No, I didn’t know he had a book out. :O 0 likes January 5, 2019 at 3:21 pm #182839 Gabriel CorsoParticipant Hello there!! Here are some pictures of the process building the body. – This is where it all begins View post on imgur.com – The wood is cut in half View post on imgur.com – Both parts are glued together in order to cut the guitar body afterwards View post on imgur.com I promise to keep you guys updated on this guitar haha. These are some pictures I forgot I had taken. Keep rocking everybody!! 1 person likes this January 7, 2019 at 5:31 am #182894 Gabriel CorsoParticipant Some more pictures of the process!! -After the two parts are glued together, it is time to make the marks on the wood. View post on imgur.com – We already have the models. View post on imgur.com – Get the wood OUTTA THERE!! View post on imgur.com – Before shaping the Stratocaster. View post on imgur.com Next step is doing the last holes to the body. View post on imgur.com And after that using this amazing paint to make the body look as I want!! It was very hard to achieve fender’s lake placid blue color. So we had to improvise! But I think the color is pretty much ok. View post on imgur.com Hope you liked it guys! Keep rocking! G. 3 likes January 27, 2019 at 11:29 am #183309 Gabriel CorsoParticipant We are almost there! – doing the final touches on the wood! Sanding, polishing, aligning the parts and electric cables to see if everything will work. View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com – now we just painted it with the sealing ink to get the wood prepared for receiving the pre paint and the paint afterwards. View post on imgur.com Now we just wait! We expect it to be done next Sunday! I am very excited about it! Take care guys ! 1 person likes this Author Posts Viewing 15 posts - 1 through 15 (of 27 total) 1 2 → You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
