You don’t need any special pedals to achieve his style. If you just have a good distortion channel on your amp that’ll do the trick. Tone wise for the amp I usually don’t go crazy on the treble for the rhythm stuff he plays and when I play lead I crank it up a little bit more. I know he has used Marshalls, Hellwins, and messa boogies.? Those are amps though not pedals. 0 likes May 22, 2019 at 6:11 pm #185954 Jak AngelescuKeymaster Matt nailed it. I’ve had people stunned that my tone sounds like his occasionally but I’m not using anything near his set up, or price point of a setup. Having someone else’s tone isn’t everything. His tone is incredible, isn’t it? Not sure what pedals he uses, but I love his solos like hell 0 likes May 23, 2019 at 1:48 am #185963 Ids SchiereParticipant Tbh I’m a very firm believer in the whole time is in the finger thing. Sure you can get close to someone else’s tone but getting it exactly right even with the same gear is pretty much impossible. If you give 10 players exactly the same gear and exactly the same settings they probably won’t sound the same. You could try this pedal https://equipboard.com/pros/synyster-gates 0 likes May 23, 2019 at 2:09 am #185967 Kfir YaakoviParticipant I think we can always use Fractals axe fx 3 and use syns presets from the store no? 😀 0 likes May 23, 2019 at 2:22 am #185968 Ids SchiereParticipant If you have $3000 laying around to buy an axe-fx and can buy the cab packs in the store you still need to create a present that works. Syn does not sell presets he sells cabs 0 likes May 25, 2019 at 10:41 pm #186029 Cleowell john CasalmerParticipant Thank you very much guys!! 0 likes June 5, 2019 at 2:58 pm #186262 Brian Haner Sr.Keymaster I will chime in here and say when I recorded the outro on Angels, Syn had just recorded a solo. He handed me his guitar, still plugged into his amp. Same set up. Didn’t change a thing. I started playing and he looked at me like – “How in the hell are you getting that sound to come out of my guitar and amp?” If you listen to that outro solo – it sounds nothing like Syn. Of course the style and note choices are different – but the TONE is completely different. I couldn’t sound like Syn if I wanted to. My hands don’t do that. So my advice would be to work on Syn’s techniques; the way he holds the pick, the way he mutes strings, his vibrato, etc. These are the things that will get you closer to his sound. And in end – you don’t want to sound exactly like him anyway. You want to sound like you. Take what you can from Syn and apply it to your style. Someday kids will be asking how they can sound like you! Good luck! Cheers! PG 0 likes Author Posts Viewing 8 posts - 1 through 8 (of 8 total) You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
