The Wicked End Sweeps

The sweeps in The Wicked End.
I’ve been practicing quite a lot lately trying to get those barring sweeps clean, specifically (See more) that third arpeggio. Finally noticing some improvement! The Wicked End is by far the most requested song on my channel, so I figured I’d finally learn it!

Lucas Eastburn How do you keep your sweeps so clean, I've tried doing a few simple ones and even still i get a lot of dud notes and feedback from strings continuing to ring out. Do you have any helpful tips or is it just an insane amount of playing?

Martin Ronning It certainly takes quite a bit of practice, for sure. If you've got the core technique down, the best thing you can do is practice with a metronome. Find a certain solo or pattern you like and practice that. It's important that you don't play faster than you can play clean, as you'll develop bad habits that way. Another important factor, if you haven't already, is isolating both your hands. Making sure that your picking hand isn't picking out the notes but rather sweeping as if you're playing a chord and ensuring your fretting hand is accurate.
