I just wanted to follow up, amidst the madness out there, with my earlier post regarding P90s. This time, I wanted to recommend people give semi-hollow guitars a shout. I fell in love with them and now have 4. My Epiphone Riviera P93, which I mentioned before, has 3 P90's in it. Combine that...

    New to guitars

Welcome! From my playing experience, and learning on both acoustic and electric, I'd whole heartedly recommend starting on electric. It's way easier to play and learn on and causes much less grief and frustration. Most acoustics have really heavy string gauges, especially steel-string acoustics...

Good luck Ids Shiere! I know you will love the guitar! I have an Epiphone Riviera P93 and I adore that guitar. It's like a strat/335/SG on steriods! One of my favorites!

Thanks for the Comment Syn Gates!! Nocturne, absolutely yes it does! The best way I can think of describing them is like a cross between a Les Paul and a Tele. They have this singing midrange that is just beautiful and, believe it or not, they have higher output than PAF style humbuckers. They...

I have to say, if anyone here hasn't tried P90s yet, I whole-heartedly recommend them! I really have gotten into them after decades of playing high output humbuckers. Going down in output has really opened up a lot in my playing and dynamics when I play a lick. I play so much differently. Cheers...

ugh, I feel for you! When I had first gotten my 2000 Fender Double Fat Strat, I got a little too into a riff for my band and jumped up, making the headstock hit a running ceiling fan in my room....that was painful. my first American guitar that I had saved up months for....I still have it too...

What are you currently listening to?

I'm listening to a lot of Instrumental guitar. I'm listening to Marco Sfogli, Chuck Loeb, Neal Schon solo stuff, Eric Johnson, if I need metal older Metallica or Killswitch Engage. I always go back to my favorite 80s music as well. Just depends on my mood.

Does anyone else have this problem when it comes to their favorite bands?

Yep, it happens to me too. I tend to not listen to a ton of mainstream stuff, so finding any info about my favorite musicians is a pain in the ass

funny thing about guitar....as you grow and develop as a musician, you find yourself drawn to aspects of music you never thought you'd ever dive into...The more I grow, the more I admire the blues and greats who knew as much about space and how much the notes you don't play are even more...

Important Strumming Patterns – Lesson 19

I reached back to the Beatles, The Eagles, Boston, and a lot of older rock and pop to practice strumming with real bits of music rather than repeating exercises. That taught me how to strum much quicker. Cheers folks

Introduction to Power Chords and Palm Muting – Lesson 18

I started out learning power chords using my index and ring finger. After watching Hetfield play, I really got into using my pinky instead and use my ring finger when using an octave powerchord. Basically, what I mean is, hitting the root and 5th with your 1st and 3rd, then the octave of the...
