2011 model, somewhat rare, but not impossible to find. Might get screwed over on the price a bit if you do find one. Personally I don't think it is worth it. New models sound just as good, and will be just as vintage in a few years.
If you want to talk about rare, the olive green burst Synyster Gates prototype model is something I would pay big for. That or the top model in this video
It appears to be a satin black body with glossy black pin stripes. Seriously we should petition to get this one on the market! And of course the Hellwin itself is very rare. I had a chance to buy a Hellwin head and slanted cab a few years ago for $2,000 CAD. I decided not to at the time. I realized after it was too late, that those amps are like unicorns and I will most likely never own one now...
Moral of the story is if you want it, GET IT! Work overtime, get a second job whatever it takes and get that gear!

Daniel, I think that top on is a Black Moon. They made 50, and they were all autographed and sold mostly (or entirely) here on the site. They were $2500, and Syn promised there would be other benefits attached to them in years to come. The Admin of this site, Jak, was gifted one of them by Syn for all she did helping to make the site a safe place with the right tone in the early days. The other 49 were bought up fast. Syn may have #51 or something, or maybe he wound up selling them all. I dunno. He or Papa would have to speak to whether they MADE 50 or SOLD 50. Either way, good luck finding one.

I actually found a near mint black/red one from 2011 for an incredible price just a few months back. It's pretty hard to find!

People don't wanna give them up. Find Facebook groups that sell items.. im in a few of them and I see custom syns selling there weekly. Obviously they aren't always the same models but you find some good deals there.

Do you guys think 800 for one in excellent condition is a good price?
If it has a sustainiac in it that is a great deal, without it, it would be a slightly high price but thats still not too bad. The White with Gold Stripes model is the rarest I believe and I snagged one in an ebay auction for $650 US 2 years ago so theres a comparison... do you know how to save ebay searches? Auctions are always the best deal for the buyer. You can get notified immediately when people put them up for sale.

It doesn't have a sustainiac but its in almost brand new condition. Since you said 800 would be a little too high what do you think would be an acceptable price? Also is there really that much of a difference between the sustainiac version and this one?

Well if it were me I would try and find one for around $700, but if it is in great condition then $800 is probably worth it. As for the sustainiac, it is all up to the player on whether or not they want to use it. On the plus side you can play any note (even pinch harmonics and whatnot) with infinite sustain, meaning the note literally plays forever. It is because of this that Syn can play his long ass harmonics in songs like the live version of critical acclaim seemingly forever in case you didn't know. On the downside, it is an active pickup, meaning that it has a very different tone compared it to another regular pickup. That is why some people don't like it if they are playing a song primarily using the neck pickup (which is where it has to be in your guitar). I personally love the way it sounds though, especially with a clean tone. So it's up to you!

The reason you should decide on if you want one or not before you by your guitar is because it's cheaper to buy it pre-installed.

If a person wanted to put in a sustainiac to a guitar they already owned, they would have to buy the pickup (over $200 if brand new) and then pay a luthier to route a cavity in your guitar to house the pickup (I had it done once for $70) and then you would either have to pay someone to wire it if you couldn't figure it out of you don't know how to solder. (Probably another $30 at least) So it is just something to consider before you invest in your guitar.

@Daniel Verde Hey dude I read your comment about the Hellwin Head and Cab for 2000 CAD. By all hazard, did you saw that deal on Reverb and for Brand new?
I saw that add on Kijiji, it was legit the first time I ever searched for a Hellwin to purchase. And I instantly found a great deal... So I figured they were readily available... I was wrong. It was used, but seemed to be in mint condition.
Since then I have only ever seen the head of the amp on sale on reverb(it was well over $2,000 Canadian for just the head mint condition but surely used).

Oh alright! Because I got lucky once and found the head and slanted cab brand new in the box for 1800$ CAD. I jumped on the occasion and can say I still have my good hellwin to this day! Great amp!

That's very lucky dude! If I could have my choice the head and slanted cab is exactly what I would go for. I've been checking reverb intermittently ever since but haven't seen anything. Maybe one day!

Hey man, I hope you get as lucky as I did. And you are right. with these things, you never know when they show up! But I am sure one day it will!
